My name is Xavier, I’m the CTO here at ScorePlay. In one sentence: ScorePlay is an AI powered digital asset management tool that automatically classifies, distributes and monetizes media for sports organizations. I primarily work on developing our proprietary artificial intelligence, though I’m also involved in software development! We work with leading organisations from around the world, such as AS Monaco, the Brazilian National Team, Real Sociedad, Saint Etienne, Benfica and many more!
ScorePlays Goal
Our objective is to revolutionise how clubs use their media. At the moment, they don’t have the tech infrastructure to capitalise on the gold mine of content they have at their disposal. ScorePlay helps clubs to organise their media to ultimately monetise it.
What was ScorePlay’s problem/need?
Our AI relies on player mugshots (for facial recognition) and names (for jersey recognition) to identify them on pictures, so for every club we work with, we need to enter the player name and profile picture. We used to enter those manually, which was really, time consuming. Now, it’s automated, which makes our lives incredibly easier.
We also use the club schedule API to automatically associate a picture to a game. That is a really helpful feature. Finally, we work with clubs from all over the world, so we needed an API that could respond to this specific need.
We were referred to Sportmonks by a leading media company. We chose Sportmonks because of the accuracy of its API, its’ ease of use and its’ outstanding customer service. Starting with Sportmonks was incredibly easy and intuitive. The on boarding process was virtually non-existent. Just plug and play!
The API is easy to use. The setup process was so straightforward, and we were immediately able to reduce the amount of time it takes to access player names and automatically integrate the teams’ schedule.

Sportmonks is a data provider, working with all kinds of clients to provide the data they need. The clients are media agencies, game developers, live score apps, betting tip agencies, professional football clubs, sports fanatics and so on. Our customers are joining the Sportmonks community and will receive all Football data they need to create their application.

How do you experience working with Sportmonks?
Beyond a fair pricing model, the customer service at Sportmonk is excellent. They were always on hand to help us and meet our most bespoke needs. It’s been genuinely revolutionary for our business, as it significantly increases accuracy and drastically reduces time spent on setup. Awesome tool!
Sounds great, but as in every partnership, you have experienced problems as well right?
The only problem we have encountered is regarding team rosters and players’ pictures. Sometimes these elements are not updated, particularly after a transfer window, and occasionally the pictures are too old. Nonetheless, the Sportmonks team is just an email away to resolve any issues we may face. The customer service has been simply outstanding. They’re always on hand to resolve any potential issues immediately. We couldn’t be happier with the service they’ve provided!

Most importantly, Sportmonks allows us to save an incredible amount of time which we now use to focus on activities that create value. We’re achieving our product development ahead of schedule, in part thanks to Sportmonk’s API! Now we just need them to support more sports!
